Lindsay Duncan & Black is a long established chamber practice that specialises in the sale and purchase of domestic properties, conveyancing matters and the administration of executry and trust estates.
We can trace our history back to Laurence Inglis, solicitor, who commenced practice in 1762 and the firm is believed to be the second oldest firm in Edinburgh that continues to practice.
The partners of Lindsay Duncan & Black have been practising from their present offices at 16 Queen Street, Edinburgh since 1848 and whilst the partners, staff and office equipment (the firm was one of the first offices in Edinburgh to have a telephone line installed in the building on 2nd March 1883 when the original number was Edinburgh 25) have changed in many ways since that time, the firm’s commitment to providing a personal legal service to our clients has remained our primary objective.
It is our firm’s policy to ensure that either of our two partners, holiday’s permitting, will deal with each transaction from start to finish thereby ensuring that our clients will have their own personal contact within the firm.
We presently have two partners:- Our senior partner, Nigel Hutchison first joined the firm as an apprentice on 3rd September 1979 and is married with twin sons. Alan James Davidson joined the firm on 1st October 1990 and is married with two daughters.
